License Your Pet
Pet licenses can be purchased in person at:
- Martensville City Hall

Benefits of Licensing your Pet
- Licensing your pet helps to identify you as their owner if they become lost. This helps owners get their pets back, faster
- Gives your lost pet a safe shelter until they can be retrieved
- Gives your pet medical access if they are sick/injured when impounded. Veterinary fees may be due upon collection by owner.
- Pets are required to be licensed before visiting the Martensville Dog Park.
Pet Licensing Fees

Animal Bylaw Enforcement
- Martensville's Bylaw Enforcement Officer works part time, Tuesday to Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. (306) 229-6859
- When lost pets are located, The Bylaw Officer, in collaboration with the Saskatoon SPCA, will make a reasonable effort to notify the owner at the address shown in licensing records.
- If unable to locate owner, found cats and dogs will be transferred to the Saskatoon SPCA for a maximum period of 72 hours. Owners can reclaim their cat or dog from the SCPA during this time.
- Contact the Bylaw Officer (306) 229-6859 for any issues related to:
- dog or cat behaviour
- animal distress
- found or stray cats/dogs
- wild animal sightings
- Note: You are responsible for caring for the animal until arrangements are made for the City to pick up animals.
Poundkeeping
- Following the City's post of a public request for proposals for Municipal Poundkeeping in February 2024, the Saskatoon SPCA were awarded the three year contract.
- While we understand that having this facility out of Martensville is inconvenient for pickup up pets, resources for poundkeeping are limited in our region. We appreciate having a partner in the Saskatoon SPCA for animal control and housing assistance.
- Found cats and dogs will be kept at theSaskatoon SPCA for a maximum period of 72 hours. Owners can reclaim their cat or dog from the SCPA during this time. Payment of impound and pet housing fees will be due at pick up. After the holding period, any unclaimed animals are released to the SPCA for re-adoption.
- Fees collected at the SPCA pay for intake and housing of the animals, including the SPCA’s administrative duties, supplies and initial medical assessments for impounded pets. They also contribute to daily boarding fees, and labour costs during the boarding period.
- Impound Fee - $50
- Housing Fee - $50 for each day or part thereof kept at the SPCA
- Only pets that are found within the City are eligible to be impounded. If found outside of City limits, contact the town or rural municipality you found the animal in.
