The City of Martensville is encouraging residents to plan carefully and if possible, stay home the morning of Monday, March 4th after heavy accumulation of snow throughout the weekend.

Snow clearing of primary arterials and collector streets continued throughout the weekend to remove snow drifts and accumulation, however, residential streets remain snowed-in creating uncertain driving conditions.  The priority through significant snow events is to ensure major roadways remain open to provide access and ease of travel for emergency services.  Once snowing has stopped, and priority streets are open, crews will begin to assess and move into residential areas to begin opening up these areas.  Snow pick-up throughout the City will be scheduled at a later date, commencing with priority areas and will be posted ahead of time.

For updates around snow removal, residents are encouraged to monitor Facebook and further information on snow removal procedures can be found at Martensville.ca and the city page in local newspapers.

City Manager, Tanya Garost commented on the snow, “We are thankful to our crews that have worked tirelessly through the weekend to help ensure access could be maintained to infrastructure and emergency services through the largest storm this winter season.  Going forward we hope residents can help each other dig out and also show patience with our crews as we move on to next stages of snow removal".

Civic facilities will have altered hours March 4th.  The Sports Centre is closed until 12:30PM. City Hall, the Martensville Athletic Pavilion, and the Library, will all be closed in the morning and opening at 1PM.   City Hall may still be called for those experiencing a water/sewer emergency or have general questions about services.
