    PSA Regarding COVID-19- Residents Encouraged to Follow Saskatchewan Health Authority Advice Regarding Prevention of COVID-19

    While the risk of contracting COVID-19 remains low in Saskatchewan, the City of Martensville is encouraging residents to follow prevention guidelines provided by the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

    “We know that at this time Saskatchewan does not have a confirmed case of COVID-19, and the risk locally remains low,” said Kent Muench, Mayor of the City of Martensville.  “This is good news for us, but at the same time we want to provide the best information we have regarding prevention.”

    The Saskatchewan Health Authority is encouraging the public to follow guidelines to help prevent the spread of infectious illnesses. These include practicing strong hand hygiene, minimizing close contact such as not shaking hands with others, and not attending work or public events if you are not feeling well.

    “The City of Martensville’s Emergency Measures Organization (EMO) is currently updating our pandemic plan which is aligned with our all-hazards EMO plan,” adds Muench. “We also receive new information from the Saskatchewan Health Authority as soon as it is issued and will make that available to residents moving forward.”

    The City recommends visiting the Government of Saskatchewan’s website Saskatchewan.ca/coronavirus for updates on the virus, and to consult the Government of Canada for travel updates if you are planning to travel.

    Preventative actions include:
    • Practice proper cough and sneezing etiquette (into the bend of your elbow);
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water; if soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer;
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands;
    • Maintain safe food practices; and
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
