We continue to monitor and manage the wastewater system daily.  Weather changes (warmer weather) add another variable to manage through the chemistry to limit smell off the waste water lagoon system which contains over 850,000 cubic meters of water.  We share the frustration and concerns of residents while we restore the facility capacity that we had prior to the March Aeration building fire, we thank you for your patience.

Our staff continue to implement chemical treatment to help limit odour and ensure proper treatment.  Samples are taken daily to help monitor oxygen levels. To help increase air flow into the primary cells cleaning of aeration heads along with replacement of an aeration line is underway.  Recent kinking and twisting of lines have also had to have been remedied.

A temporary compressor is still in place to continue to move oxygen into the lagoon cells.  The refurbished permanent compressors are expected to be delivered within the week at which time will be hooked up to the new Motor Control Centre (MCC).  An additional permanent new compressor is also slated to be installed upon its delivery in 6-8 weeks.  The building that was damaged by the fire is complete and ready for the equipment installation.

The permanent compressors provide the most effective way to maintain consistent oxygen levels in the cells.
