The Martensville Fire Department
Last Updated: 03/10/2010

Background
- Our Fire Department protects
6500+ people in an area of approximately 75 square miles in a mixed urban and rural
setting comprising the City of Martensville and the RM of Corman
Park. We are located a short distance north of the City of Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan's largest city. Our community is a vibrant and exciting
place to live with many advantages and opportunities.
- We are a paid-on-call department with a high level of training and
dedication to our community.
- Our Fire Department is proud to include female members who are an integral part of our
team and are fully integrated into all operations. Two of our female
fire-fighters have gone on to work as full-time Fire Department members for
other Fire Services.
We have also had similar success in seeing a couple former young men on our
department pursue careers in the Fire Service field.
- We provide both fire and emergency medical services.
Training
- All of our Fire Department personnel are trained to current NFPA and IFSTA standards and
several have obtained the "Gold Seal" of International Firefighter Status.
- Most of our members are also Registered Volunteer First Responders or EMT's.
- Two of our members are Certified Fire Service Instructors
- All new members undergo a 6 month probationary period and have to complete the
approved course of instruction, as well as train to at least First Responder status.
- We regularly train on Wednesday evenings and alternate with medical and
fire-service training. All members must complete certain mandatory classes every
year.
Equipment
- We currently have 2 Engines, one dedicated to City of Martensville duties, and the other
is tasked with Rural Municipality calls as well as city responses.
- An 85' Aerial Snorkel truck adds to our ability to respond to numerous
types of fires.
- Our FD has 2 Rescue Vehicles. One of the Rescue vehicles is a Medical Rescue Unit
equipped as an ambulance with AED. The other is a Rapid Response 4x4 equipped with
vehicle extrication equipment and a 250-gallon tank for grass fires and rapid response.
Community Involvement
- We are active in Community Involvement with such things as:
- Annual Pancake Breakfast to welcome new Elementary School Students.
- Fire Prevention Week BBQ and open house tours.
- Inspections and assistance with planning for Fire Emergencies
- Sponsoring the Martensville Scouting Association.
- Fire Prevention and First Aid Classes for the Babysitting Program.
- School Education in the areas of Fire Prevention and Safety.
- Spring Festival Educational Displays at one of our Elementary Schools.
- CPR and First Aid Courses for the general public.
- Infant and Child Restraint Inspection programs.
